Airing on 31 August, the Music Station music program will feature sakanaction!
The popular Asahi TV program that airs every week at 8PM JST will have sakanaction perform their latest single "Yoru no Odoriko" on next week's show.
sakanaction appeared for the first time on Music Station last year, 22 July, to perform "Bach no Senritsu wo Yoru ni Kiita Sei desu." Since then they have not had the opportunity to appear on the program again, even when "Boku to Hana" was released.
An appearance on Music Station again was hoped for by many fans, as performances on television will help the band to be known and it helps the sales as well. Thus far, Music Station is the only music program which has had Sakanaction on it.
Check out the performance list for 31 August below! (May not in performance order.)
Performances
・AKB48「Gingham Check」
・Sakanaction「Yoru no Odoriko」
・Tackey & Tsubasa「Koakuma Juliet」
・Naoto Inti Raymi「Naitetatte」
・FUNKY MONKEY BABYS「LIFE IS A PARTY」
・Yoshii Kazuya「Tenbyou no Shikumi」
What do you guys think?
I personally got really excited as the last time many people got to know of sakanaction because of Music Station and even became fans from there. It's really good exposure.
However, after that I noticed that AKB48 will be performing on the same date as well and I cringed really hard. Yamaguchi has at times expressed his dislike for "non-intelligent" popular music in interviews, and if i'm not wrong there have been hints he does not like the AKB franchise (and I'm not surprised if it's true).
In the previous time they appeared on Music Station, Yamaguchi had this look on his face like he was side-eyeing Tohoshinki the whole time they were talking. (Please note that this is strictly my own observation.) It would be nice if they did not have to appear on the same episode...I feel a little bad for sakanaction overall because the episode will definitely put a lot more focus on AKB48 since they are the ones bringing in the ratings.
Oh well. Having AKB48 on the show does have its benefits though, you can bet there will be more people tuning in. Hopefully some of them may check sakanaction out after hearing their new songs. It's not impossible to like both groups... I'm one of them. :X
